The Exam Setup module establishes the foundation for all examination activities. This includes defining exam types, setting up grade systems, configuring assessment rules, and defining passing criteria.

Accessing Exam Setup

  • Log in as Administrator
  • Navigate to ExaminationsExam Setup
  • View available setup options

    Grade Systems

    Creating a Grade System

    A grade system defines how marks are converted to letter grades and GPA.

  • Click Grade SystemsAdd Grade System
  • Enter:
  • - Name - e.g., "CBSE Grading", "Percentage" - Description - Optional details
  • Add grade boundaries:
  • GradeFrom (%)To (%)GPA/Points

    • Set passing percentage (typically 35% or 40%)
  • Save the grade system
  • Assigning Grade Systems

  • Go to SettingsExam Settings
    • Select default grade system for each class

    Define different categories of exams:

  • Go to Exam Types
  • Click Add Exam Type
  • Enter:
  • - Name - e.g., "Mid-Term", "Final", "Unit Test" - Code - Short code - Description - Weightage - Contribution to final grade (%)

  • Unit Test - Monthly short exam
  • Mid-Term - Semester assessment
  • Final Exam - End of year exam

    Assessment Components

    Define what contributes to the final grade:

  • Go to Assessment Components
  • Click Add Component
  • Enter:
  • - Name - e.g., "Theory", "Practical", "Homework" - Type - Exam, Assignment, Project, etc. - Weightage - % of total marks - Passing Marks - Minimum to pass
  • Save
  • Example for a class:

    • Theory: 70%
    • Practical: 20%
  • Homework/Assignment: 10%

    Exam Groups

    Group multiple exams together:

  • Go to Exam Groups
  • Click Add Exam Group
  • Enter:
  • - Name - e.g., "Class 10 Annual Exams 2024" - Academic Year - Start Date - End Date
    • Add exams to this group

    Subject Setup for Exams

    Configure exam settings per subject:

  • Go to Subject Assessment
    • Select class and subject
  • Configure:
  • - Exam types to include - Pass marks for each - Total marks

  • Click Add Template
